LEAD POISONING OF WATERFOWL AS INDICATORS OF WATER POLLUTION BY HEAVY METALS |
Author : ZHMUD M.E., KOSHELEV A.I. |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : The occurrence of lead shot in waterfowl gizzards, surveyed in 1969-1985 years was considered in the south ofWestern Siberia and in the southern Ukraine. The gastric contents were investigated of 1722 birds of 13 species. ForMallard, Garganey, Eurasian Teal, and Common Pochard the lead shot was detected in the coastal areas of theDanube Delta. Maximum infestation was registered for Garganey (33,3%) and Common Pochard (25,0%). Theresults are compared with data for other European countries. The necessity and effectiveness of interventions aimedat reducing the extent of lead contamination of waterfowl was discussed. |

THERIOFAUNA DIVERSITY OF THE FUTURE NATIONAL PARK «MIDDLE DNIEPER MARSHES» |
Author : RUZHILENKO N., NYKYFOROV V., KONSTANTINOV S. |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : Some 24 mammalian species were registered within the area of future National natural park «Middle Dniepermarshes», among them wild boar and jackal were surveyed occasionally; hoofed mammals, some species ofinsectivorous, and rodents are the rare species. Red Data List mammals are represented by three species. The otterand stoat are numerous species at local level. The density of mammals was about one species per 2 km2, index ofrarity was 0.04. Most species were founded in reserve «Biletzkovka marshes» because of its high floristic diversity. The anthropogenic influence was the dominant factors for species diversity and abundance of fauna. |

Author : TUROVTSEV N. L., TUROVTSEVA V. A., TUROVTSEVA N. N. |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : In the breeding work process in the of irrigating horticulture named after M.F. Sidorenko NAAS more than 90 sweet sorts are born, 45 of them are included in State sort register, suitable for spreading in Ukraine. Ways and methods of new sorts creation are described. Single out sorts-donors of sweet cherries, which stable transmit its features to progeny. Selected sorts of different fetus ripening periods, which characterized by large-fruited, productivity and high gustatory quality, for forming high-productive sweet cherries plating. |

PRELIMINARY RESULTS OF RADAR OBSERVATION OF NOCTURNAL BIRD MIGRATION IN ISRAEL |
Author : MATSYURA A.V. |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : The results of radar-tracking supervisions over the night migration in Israel are submitted. The determination of flight altitudes, flight speeds, heights of maximum birds’ concentration, and migratory directions was performed. The average flight altitudes of night migration were 985 m in autumn and 1465 m in spring of 1998-2000, maximum flight altitudes were 2068 m and 2655 m correspondingly. The mean track direction of the night bird migration is 183° in spring and 6° in autumn. The migration of waterfowl over the Mediterranean Sea in the low altitude band was registered. Their average headings differ from the general migratory path, averaging 135° in autumn and 315° in spring. The average birds’ groundspeed was 14 m/s (50 km/h) in spring and 13 m/s (47 km/h) in autumn. |

Author : NOVITSKIY R. A., KHOBOT V. V. |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : Specific composition of bull-calves is analyzed together with their quantitative and quality parameters in the littoral zone of the Dnepr storage pool. The structural-functional features of organization of littoral communities of bull-calves were studied. The patterns of spatial distribution of Bull-calf (Gobiidae) representatives were analyzed for the storage pool; their role in the littoral fish communities was clarified. |

SALINE VEGETATION OF MOLOCHNY ESTUARY COAST: DISTRIBUTION PATTERNS |
Author : NAMLIEVA L. M. |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : The patterns of distributing of halophytic vegetation in North–Western Priazov’ya on the whole and on the coast of the Molochny estuary, in particular were considered. The distribution caused by the location of saline soils and degree of their salinity. The vegetation of saline soils can be expressly divided into two groups: vegetation of marine and estuaries banks, and vegetation of saline lands. The natural vegetation of right bank of the Molochny estuary tested considerable anthropogenic influence, that’s why it is preserved mainly on the steep slope of right bank the estuary. Here, some three groups were selected: vegetation of near-estuary part, vegetation of slope of the right bank, and vegetation of uplifted plateau. |

DNIEPROVSKO-ORELSKIY NATURAL RESERVE AS THE REFUGIUM FOR HERPETOFAUNA IN PRIDNEPROVSK REGION |
Author : MISSURA A. N., MARCHENKOVSKAYA A. A. |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : Species diversity of herpetofauna of Dnieprovsko-Orel'skiy natural reserve was estimated based on long-term monitoring data; relative species’ abundance was determined as well. The retrospective estimation of amphibious populations in biogeocoenoses was performed for the period before and after creation of nature reserve. We also estimated turnover ratio of species between nature reserve biogeocoenoses and adjacent biotopes with high degree of recreation and urbanization. The data were incorporated into management plan for populations’ abundance stabilization and increasing. |
